The Institute distributes a weekly electronic news roundup from throughout the Arctic concerning maritime, aviation and telecommunications links, as well as other areas so critical for sustainable development.

Sixty news electronic and print new sources are scanned each week for appropriate information to link to the Telegraph.  The Telegraph is formatted in Microsoft Word and distributed as text in the reader’s email.  Summaries and links are provided within sections – Maritime, Telecommunications, Aviation, and Other – with subsections for each of the Arctic nations.  Additional sections offer articles related to Climate Change as it affects the Arctic, Fisheries, UNCLOS (the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea) and Energy.

Every article used includes a title, news source and date of publication, an electronic link written and hyper-linked, and an excerpt that highlights the article’s relevancy.  In addition, each issue highlights either articles of particular interest or features special projects of the Institute of the North.

A section titled, From the Telegraph Wires, encourages readers to share their views on a specific news article and/or notify readers where other published news articles of interest can be found by electronic means.  The last section, Links/Resources, appears periodically as new websites and important resources become available. Contact information as well as subscribe/unsubscribe direction is given in every Telegraph.
