Organized by the Institute of the North in collaboration with Ottawa-based LPS AVIA Consulting and the Alaska University Transportation Center, the 2010 Arctic Aviation Experts Conference provided a valuable platform for experts and stakeholders from across the Arctic to come together and forge new relationships. As participants worked to develop an overarching process for change that addresses the interdependency of the social, economic, environmental, technological and safety aspects of Arctic aviation, they were asked to consider a changing climate and the need for increased communication and collaboration.
The discussion in Fairbanks was an opportunity to develop a constructive and actionable strategic plan for Arctic aviation and those who attended worked hard to initiate and articulate such a plan. The Institute of the North looks forward to sharing that initiative in the weeks to come.
