Most of the Arctic, like most of the world, is commonly owned. With ownership comes the obligation to manage our resources for the benefit of the total. To do that, we must understand the reality, the richness, and the responsibility of the North.

Robert O. Anderson Sustainable Arctic Award Dinner

Join the Institute of the North in recognizing Jacob Anaġi Adams as the 2011 Robert O. Anderson Sustainable Arctic Award Recipient.

Mr. Adams will be the fifth recipient of the Robert O. Anderson Sustainable Arctic Award and we are excited to be able to honor him on Thursday August 18, 2011 at 6pm the Hotel Captain Cook. Please join us as we recognize the contributions Mr. Adams has made on Arctic policy as a lifelong Barrow resident, his work through the North Slope Borough and his longtime leadership at Arctic Slope Regional Corporation. We also want to use this opportunity to celebrate a “Week of the Arctic,” – reminding all of us that America is an Arctic nation because Alaska is an Arctic state. For more information about the week's events visit the calendar.

We hope you will be able to participate as we work to elevate Alaska’s role in the Arctic. The Robert O. Anderson Sustainable Arctic Award reinforces the commitment that Alaskans have made to our peoples and communities, and to responsible resource development. Your attendance at this Award Dinner highlights Alaskans’ determination to be at the forefront of Arctic policy and action.
